Emmetsburg – Bryant Fred Booth, 87, died Oct. 6 at his home in Emmetsburg. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Methodist Church, Emmetsburg. The Martin-Bale Funeral Home, Emmetsburg, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Booth was born Dec. 13, 1888 in Buchanon County to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Booth and has lived in the Estherville and Emmetsburg area his whole life. He was married Nov. 1, 1915 to Martha Westfall in Clarion. After her April 9, 1965 death he was married to Elsie Miller, Emmetsburg. He retired after 27 years with the Rock Island Railroad.

Survivors include his wife Elsie; three sons, Bryan, Jr., Robert and Irvin, all of Estherville; six step children; one sister, Vera, Emmetsburg; two brothers, Verl, Rapid City, S.D.; and Archie, Washington state; seven grandchildren; 17 step grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, one grandson, our brothers, two sisters, his parents and three step daughters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 7, 1976)

Bryant Fred Booth, 87, of Emmetsburg died Oct. 6. He was dead on arrival at the Palo Alto County Hospital.

Funeral services for Bryant Booth were held Oct. 9 at 1 p.m. from the United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Chester F. Waterman officiated.

Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg, with Martin-Bails Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Bryant Fred Booth was born Dec. 13, in Independence, Ia. He was the son of Fred and Edith Davis Booth.

He lived in Estherville and Emmetsburg most of his life. Mr. Booth worked for the railroad in Estherville for 27 years until his retirement in 1953.

Mr. Booth was married to Martha Westfall on Nov. 1, 1915 at Clarion. She preceded him in death in April, 1962. He was then married to Elsie Westfall Miller in Rapid City, S.D., on Sept. 1, 1962 and have since made their home in Emmetsburg.

Surviving are his wife, Elsie; three son, Bryan Booth, Jr., Irvin Booth and Robert Booth, all of Estherville; and six step children; Raymond Miller, Henry Miller, LeRoy Miller and Mrs. Harry (Edna) Henderson, all of Emmetsburg, Mrs. Maynard (Grace) Wiegand of Burt and Mrs. Homer (Alice) Conn of Santa Barbara, Calif.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren and17 step-grandchildren; on sister, Miss Vera Booth of Emmetsburg; and two brothers, Verl Booth of South Dakota and Archie Booth of Washington state.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha, one grandson, four brothers, two sisters and three step-daughters.

Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased: Dennis Wiegand, Larry Reese, Robert Henderson, John Henderson, Raymond Miller and Dale Miller. (Reporter, Emmetsburg, IA, October 12, 1976)
