Bernard Wempe Rites Held Today
Requiem Mass for Bernard Henry Wempe, 62, Estherville, was held at 10 a.m. today in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Estherville, with Msgr. James H. Duhigg officiating. Interment was made in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Estherville.

Mr. Wempe died Oct. 19 at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville. The son of Henry and Cecelia Wempe, he was born Sept. 30, 1911 at Breda, Carroll County.

He moved with his family to the Milford area and received his education in the Milford schools.
On June 28, 1939 he was united in marriage to Hilda Pluth in Estherville. The couple farmed in the Terril area and moved to Estherville in 1970 where he was employed by the J. D. Webb Implement Co.

Mr. Wempe is survived by his wife, Hilda; one daughter, Mrs. Dean Prentice of Algona; two sons, Richard of Terril and James of Estherville; four grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Adeline Gage of Estherville, Mrs. Arlene Prange of Good Thunder, Minn., Mrs. Florence Truesdell and Mrs. Lucille Hein, both of Welcome, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister and one brother, Edwin.

Pallbearers were Jerry Pluth, Anthony Truesdell, Delmer Prange, Robert Truesdell, Larry Prange and William Truesdell.
