Funeral Rites Conducted For Mrs. Cain Here
Funeral services were held Friday, July 21 for Mrs. Gertrude Cain, 69, who died Wednesday, July 19, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Mrs. Cain, who moved here from Asheville, N.C. three and a half years ago had assisted as housekeeper for Msgr. W. F. Mason for the past three years. She had been in ill health since February. Services were held in Assumption Church at 9:30 with Msgr. Mason officiating. Burial was in St. John’s Cemetery. Pall bearers were Joe Brown, Pat, George, Leo, Joe and William Kane. The Martin Funeral Home was in charge.
Mrs. Cain was born in 1897 to James and Bridget Millea Kane of rural Emmetsburg. She attended the county schools and in 1932 married Francis Cain. Mr. Cain preceded her in death in 1963. Survivors include three brothers and two sisters. They are Eugene, James and M. J. (Dude) Kane, all of Emmetsburg, Mrs. Frank Campisano of Estherville and Mrs. Robert Carlisle of Des Moines.
