James Maine Dies at Tulsa; Rites Saturday
James Maine, 35, of Tulsa, Okla., former Estherville resident, died Sunday [September 16, 1962] at Tulsa. He had been in ill health for a number of years.

He was born in Estherville [June 16, 1927], the son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Maine, was educated in the local schools, graduating from high school here. He had been gone from Estherville for about 15 years.

Survivors include three sons, his mother, Mrs. Ellen Maine of Spirit Lake; a brother, Thomas, in New Mexico; and a sister, Mrs. Pat Kelly of Spirit Lake.

Rosary will be recited Friday at 8 p.m. at Sternborg-Reese Funeral Home and funeral service will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, with the Rev. James H. Duhigg officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 19, 1962)

Rites to Be Saturday for James Maine
James M. Maine, 35, former Estherville resident and former editor of the Ringsted Dispatch, died Sept. 16 at his home in Tulsa, Okla. Maine had been in poor health for a number of years.

Maine, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Maine, Estherville, was born June 16, 1927 and received his education in the Estherville public schools. He was married to the former Barbara Myers, Estherville, in 1949.

Maine moved from this area in 1950. Prior to this time, he owned and operated the Dispatch in Ringsted for two years. He then worked for the Spirit Lake Beacon for two years. In recent years, Maine had worked as a compositor for a number of newspapers throughout the country.

Maine is survived by three sons, James, Douglass, Jeffrey, of Santa Ana, Calif.; mother, Mrs. Ellen Maine, Spirit Lake and Deming, N.M., one brother, Thomas Maine, Deming, N.M., and one sister, Mrs. Pat (Margaret) Kelly, Spirit Lake.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today at the Sternborg-Reese Chapel and funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow at St. Patrick’s Church. The Rev. James H. Duhigg will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 21, 1962)
