Roy Francis Hood
Estherville – Roy Francis Hood, 91, Estherville, died Tuesday, August 9, 1977, at Holy Family Hospital.

Services for Mr. Hood will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Estherville, with Father Albert O. Grendler officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

A parish rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Fuhrman Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon Thursday until time of services Friday.

Born Dec. 23, 1885, in Clare, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John T. Hood. He received his education in St. Matthew’s School, Clare.

Mr. Hood was married to Maude Kramer at Strawberry Point on June 18, 1917. He farmed in Emmet County from 1914 until retiring in October, 1968, when he moved to Estherville. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Maude; four daughters, Mrs. Joseph J. (LaVon) Brinkman, Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Margaret Iske, Denver, Colo., Mrs. Edward F. (Maxine) Golob, Gastonia, N.C., and Mrs. Melvin (Sheryl) Scheer, Venice, Calif.; one son, Donald Hood, Tulsa, Okla.; eleven grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. M. F. McMahon and Mrs. A. E. Meyer, both of Fort Dodge.

Mr. Hood was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 10, 1977)
