Mrs. Bormann Dies at 92
Mrs. Mary Bormann, 92, Estherville, died Friday evening, Feb. 25, 1972, at Rosewood Manor.Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick’s Church, Estherville, with Father Laurence Burns officiating. Burial will be made in St. Patrick’s cemetery, Estherville. A rosary will be recited at 8 o’clock this evening in Fuhrman Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bormann was born Dec. 28, 1879, at Springbrook to Mr. and Mrs. John Sturm. She was educated at the Lady of Angels Seminary at Lyons. On April 15, 1902, she was married to August V. Bormann at Preston. They came to Emmet County in 1916 and farmed in the Estherville area. After moving to Estherville, her husband was engaged in the insurance business and was a desk clerk at the Gardston Hotel. He died Sept. 30, 1945.
Mrs. Bormann was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Altar and Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters of America. She was also a 4-H leader.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Bernice) Woodling, Estherville, Mrs. Victor (Corrine) Johnson, Fremont, Calif., and Mrs. Jerome (Lois) Thoma, Clare; five sons, Gregory of Emmetsburg, Bernard of Morris, Minn., Norbert of Seattle, Wash., Cyril of Estherville and Louis of Milwaukee, Wis.; 21 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Oswald, who died April 19, 1923; her parents; and three brothers and one sister.
Pallbearers at the services will be David Fitzgibbons, Frank Lown, Don Ludwig, Isadore Neppl, Ronald Schenck and Roy J. Smith. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 28, 1972)
