Final Rites for 12-year-old Local Youth
Matthew Arnold Boever, 12, died at 6:10 p.m. Saturday [February 22, 1969] at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn., where he had been taken Wednesday after becoming critically ill.

Matthew was born Oct. 18, 1956, at Estherville, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Boever. He was a pupil in the seventh grade at St. Patrick’s school, and was a member of St. Patrick’s church.

Surviving are his parents; three brothers, Wallace, 17; Frank, 14; and Mark, 10; and two sisters, Theresa, 16, and Bernadette, 9.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Church with the Rev. Laurence Burns officiating. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Fuhrman Funeral Home. The Legion of Mary will have a Rosary at 7 o’clock tonight.

Boy Scouts of troop No. 21 and pupils of seventh grade at St. Patrick’s School will serve as an honor guard.

Pallbearers will be Jim Bothwell, John Alig, Bill Fenton, Steve Thiel, Don Hanson, John Irwin, Larry Origer, and Mike McCarthy. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 24, 1969)
