Mrs. Nate Peterson of Raleigh, died last Saturday [January 4, 1908] morning. Funeral services were held at Estherville and the body was laid to rest in the Oak Hill Cemetery. (Milford Mail, Milford, IA, January 9, 1908)

The surprising news was received in Terril last Friday that Mrs. Nathan B. Peterson, residing five miles east of Terril had been called by the grim reaper, Death. She died at 4:10 o’clock. Mrs. Peterson was always known as a kind loving wife, and a fond mother. She was loved by all her neighbors because of her good will and willingness to help in time of need. Mary J. Randall was born in Carrol country, Illinois, on June 28th, 1849 and died near Terril on Friday, Jan. 3, 1908 being fifty eight years six months and five days old. She was married on August 22, 1879 to Nathan B. Peterson and to this union were born three children, all of whom are living, Mrs. Mattie Barnes and Chas. E. Peterson of Terril and Mrs. Emma S. Harvey of Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Peterson moved from Illinois to Dickinson county twenty-eight years ago living near Mt. Chapel for ten years and then moving to the present home where she resided for the past eighteen years. Mrs. Peterson was a member of the Methodist church of Savanna, Ill., and her faith in God was strong to the end. Interment was made in the Estherville cemetery, Rev. E. W. Hanna speaking the comforting words. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, January 15, 1908)
