The Passing of Mrs. Gus T. Peterson
Death Claimed Aged Lady Monday Afternoon Following Flu Attack
Funeral Services Thursday
The death of the beloved wife of Mr. Gus T. Peterson Monday afternoon, April 16th at her home on North Sixth street was a great shock to her many friends in that community. She had been ill only a week, her sickness starting with an attack of the flu but developed into pneumonia from which death came Monday afternoon to relieve her of her great suffering.Brief funeral services will be held from the residence early Thursday morning conducted by Rev. S. A. Berge and the body will then be taken to Bode, the former home of the deceased, where funeral services will be held and interment made.
Deceased was born in Norway, Aug. 31, 1849. She came to America when she was nine years of age, with her parents, who settled in LaFayette county, Wisconsin. In 1869 she with her parents came to Iowa and settled on a farm in Humboldt county, near Bode.
On June 5, 1875 she was united in marriage to Mr. Gus T. Peterson at the home of her parents near Bode where she resided until 1896 when she moved to Estherville with her husband.
She is survived by her husband, and one sister, Mrs. P. Williams of Bode. Three brothers passed away several years ago.
Mrs. Peterson was a member of the Norwegian Lutheran church and a very consistent Christian lady. She was a devoted wife and a kind neighbor. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, April 18, 1923)

Was a Resident of This City Since Eighteen Hundred and Ninety Six
Mrs. Antonnette G. Peterson, wife of Gust T. Peterson, passed away at their home on north Sixth street on last Monday afternoon at three o’clock. Mrs. Peterson came here with her husband who has been in the employ of the Rock Island here since their arrival in 1896. A short time ago Mrs. Peterson became afflicted with Pleurisy from which she died. Mrs. Peterson was born in Norway on August 21 [31?], 1849. She came to this country in 1828 and with her people settled in Wisconsin. The family moved to Iowa in the year 1886 and Mrs. Peterson came to Estherville with her husband in 1896. She was united in marriage to Gus T. Peterson at Bode in June, 1895, and she is survived by her husband and one sister.The funeral services will be held in Bode from the Lutheran church April, the 19th, at two o’clock in the afternoon and the remains will be laid to rest in the Bode cemetery. John A. Peterson of Dayton, arrived in this city Saturday for an over Sunday visit with his brother, Gus T. Peterson, leaving Monday morning for his home.
Gina Hanson of Bode spent Sunday at the Gus T. Peterson home visiting with her Grandma Williams who is at the Peterson home.
