Prominent Woman Dies
Mrs. G. A. Peterson Had Been In Failing Health For Several Years
Mrs. Emma Peterson, wife of G. A. Peterson, passed away at her home on North 7th street, Saturday [September 2, 1939] morning. Mrs. Peterson a life long resident of Emmet county had been in failing health for several years and recently went to Rochester but nothing could be done for her there.The deceased woman was born March 3, 1885 on the farm of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Schultz five miles north of Estherville. She received her education in the county schools and was married here.
Left to mourn the passing of a most devoted and loving wife and mother are her husband, one daughter, Miss Mary Louise Peterson and son Clarence of Estherville. Two brothers Walter Schultz, Estherville and Frank Schultz or Pomona, Calif., survive, also four sisters, Mrs. Ida Leupold, Superior; Mrs. Wm. Turner, Estherville; Mrs. Fred Grantham, Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; and Mrs. W. B. Simpson, Wichita, Kansas.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the home and at 2:30 from the Union Baptist church in charge of Rev. J. Albert Riggs. Interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery.
Musical numbers were given by a vested quartet consisting of Mrs. Wilson Moore, Miss Ruth McMannis, Mrs. Geo. Trevett and Miss Betty Riggs with Mrs. Merlyn Crossen at the piano.
Pall bearers were Vance Noe, Anton Stoery, Floyd Johnson, Vern Kilgore, Oley Anderson and Wesley Sutton. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, September 7, 1939)
Mrs. G. A. Peterson, Pioneer Resident, Died Saturday
Mrs. G. A. Peterson, a long time resident of Estherville, passed away at her home on North Seventh street on Saturday morning. Mrs. Peterson had been in failing health for a long time. Her condition was not considered serious until the last.Mrs. Peterson was born in Emmet county five miles north of this city March 3, 1885, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Schultz.
Mr. and Mrs. Peterson only recently moved into a beautiful new home on North Seventh and expected to settle down to enjoy life. She was very well and favorably known in this city.
Funeral services were held from the Baptist church at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. J. A. Riggs officiating. Interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Peterson is survived by her husband, one daughter, Louise Peterson, a son Clarence, two brothers and four sisters. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, September 7, 1939)
