Justus Petersen, 88, died at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 30 in Holy Family Hospital, Estherville. Funeral arrangements are pending at Reese-Henry Funeral Home, Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 31, 1973)
Justus Petersen Services Thursday in Estherville
Justus Henry Petersen, 89, who died Dec. 30 in Holy Family Hospital, will be given funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.The Rev. Herbert Brase will officiate with music provided by Louis Obye as vocalist, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Lillan Mauck. Burial will be made in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be nephews of the deceased, August Andreasen, Herman Andreasen, Earl Stick, Harold Howard, Darrell Dressen and Duane Dressen. Friends may call at Reese-Henry Funeral Home at any time until time of services.
Mr. Petersen was born Sept. 27, 1894 [1884] in Germany to August and Catherine Anderson Petersen. As a small boy, he came with his parents to this country where they settled in Sac County. He was educated in rural schools in Sac County.
He came to Emmet County in 1920, where he was a carpenter and engaged in farm work. He was married to Eva Lucas, Nov. 29, 1950 in Worthington, Minn. Mr. Petersen was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Estherville.
Survivors include one step-daughter, Ina Erickson, Estherville; one stepson, Clarence Lucas, Tacoma, Wash.; 11 nieces and nephews; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Stick, Estherville, and Mrs. Minnie Dressen, Hartington, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four sisters, one brother and one stepson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 2, 1974)
