Hattie Omundsen [Osmundsen] Services Set for Thursday
Hattie B. Omundsen, 83, Longmont, Colo., died March 14 at Eventide of Longmont Nursing Home. She was born Jan. 1, 1888, at Emmetsburg to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Vestrem.
She was married June 8, 1912, at Estherville to John Wesley Omundsen. He died in June, 1930.
Mrs. Omundsen taught school prior to her marriage in Emmet County, and after the death of her husband, she returned to teaching. On Jan. 1, 1935, she was elected to the office Emmet County Recorder, which she held until retiring Jan. 1, 1957. Since that time she had been making her home with her daughter at Longmont, Colo.
Mrs. Omundsen was a member of the Dickens Methodist Church, a member of the North Star Chapter Order of Eastern Star, a member and Past Worthy High Priestess of Bethel Shrine, and Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, all of Estherville.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. James (Carolyn) Walsh, Longmont, Colo.; three sons, Wayne, Decorah; John, Los Angeles, Calif.; Dean, La Puente, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. George Meichar, Cedar Rapids; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one infant son, Robert.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Reese-Henry Funeral Chapel in Estherville with the Rev. Richard Pearson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home after 1 p.m. on Wednesday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 17, 1971)
