Dr. John L. Osgood Dies at Age 63
Dr. John L. Osgood, 63, retired Estherville dentist, died today about 6:20 a.m. at his home, W. 302 North Second Street. Dr. Osgood had been in failing health for several years. He had suffered from emphysema.

John Louis Osgood was born Oct. 29, 1904, near Armstrong, the son of John L. and Ivy Deming Osgood.

He received his education in the Estherville elementary and high schools and graduated from the college of dentistry, University of Iowa, Iowa City, in 1929. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, Delta Sigma Chi, dental fraternity, and also was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon, honorary dental fraternity.

Dr. Osgood was married June 26, 1930, to Evelyn Golly at Fairmont, Minn.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the B.P.O. Elks.

Survivors are his wife; two sons, John C. of Denver, Colo., and James L. of Waterloo; one daughter, Susan Osgood of Littleton, Colo.; and two grandchildren.

Dr. Osgood was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Catherine.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Fuhrman Funeral Home, Rev. H. Allen Wirtz officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Friday until time of services Saturday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 6, 1967)
