Harvey Olmstead Former Resident Dies in St. Paul
Harvey Clay Olmstead, son of the late Ella M. Parker and James H. Olmstead, was born at Modale, Iowa, August 6, 1877, and departed this life January 3, 1948 in St. Paul, Minnesota, at the age of 70 years, four months and 26 days. He was united in marriage to Anna Gee of Mondamin, Iowa, December 19, 1900. To this union seven sons and four daughters were born. His wife and one son, Newell, preceded him in death.Mr. Olmstead was a member of the Church of Christ from early manhood. He considered the church of first importance always. He served as deacon in the Estherville Church of Christ for several years as well as in churches of former membership. At the time of his death he was a member of the St. Paul First Christian Church.
Surviving are his sons, Roscoe L., of Hampton, Shurrell A. of Minneapolis, Robert J. Howard L., Earl L., of St. Paul; his daughters, Gladys M. and Maude H. of St. Paul, Mrs. Joe McCall and Mrs. Marshall Elkin of Spencer, and 24 grandchildren; two brothers, Rev. Herman L. of Des Moines, Oran F. of Missouri Valley, and one half brother, Robert of Wichita, Kansas.
Rev. C. W. Hautzenrader was in charge of services in the Elizabeth Chapel, St. Paul, Godbout Mortuary, January 5. Funeral services were under the direction of Rev. Fred Sawyer of Bloomfield and were conducted in the First Christian Church at Estherville, January 6. Interment was in Oakhill cemetery at Estherville.
