William D. Markley Dies
He Was Proprieter of the Cedar Rapids Barber College
William D. Markley, proprietor of the Cedar Rapids Barber college, died Monday at Edgewater, Colo., where he went five weeks ago in the hope of benefiting his health. He had been ill for several months. The funeral will be held at Estherville, Iowa, Mr. Markley’s former home. It is not known definitely when the remains will arrive there but the service will probably be held tomorrow. His mother and sister were with him when he died.Mr. Markley is survived by his wife and two sons, Verne and Will, all of this city. He also had three sisters and three brothers. He was 48 years old.
Mr. Markley was a member of the Modern Woodmen lodge at Martelle and the funeral in Estherville will be in charge of the Woodmen. (Evening Gazette, Cedar Rapids, IA, March 26, 1913)
The remains of William D. Markley were brought here from Colorado for burial Saturday. His first wife died and was buried here eighteen years ago. Deceased is remembered by many of the old settlers of Estherville. He belonged to the Odd Fellows lodge and was a brother of O. O. Markley and while they resided here were employed on the B.C.R. & N. Ry. as brakemen. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, April 1, 1913)
