Mrs. Rush Johnson Dies at Age of 42
Mrs. Rush Johnson, lifetime resident of Emmet county, died last night at 10 p.m. at Holy Family hospital. Mrs. Johnson had been ill for the past five months with cancer of the lungs and was hospitalized since June 26. She was 42.

Mrs. Johnson (Clara Amelia Fank) was born Sept. 12, 1910, in Ellsworth township, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Fank. When she was five years of age the family moved to Lincoln township where she lived for the next 15 years. She received her education in the Dolliver schools.

She was married July 15, 1930 to Rush Johnson at Mt. Pleasant. The couple engaged in farming in Ellsworth township and have lived on the same farm ever since.

Mrs. Johnson was active in community affairs and was a member of the Pioneer country club. She attended the Gruver Presbyterian church.

She is survived by her husband, two sons, Robert, 20, in the armed forces at El Paso, Tex., Ronald, nine months and one daughter, Virginia, 16, both at home. Also surviving are her mother, Mrs. John Fank of Dolliver, one brother, John of Dolliver and four sisters, Mrs. Tillie VanDevanter of Estherville, Mrs. Everett (Mary) Johnson of Spirit Lake, Mrs. Erbin (Elizabeth) Hein of Estherville, Mrs. Robert (Ethel) Munson of Chicago and Mrs. LeRoy (Barbara) Larson of Dolliver and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Fank, who died in October, 1934.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon. Further details as to time and place will be published in tomorrow’s Daily News. Friends may call at Sandin’s funeral home any time after Thursday noon until Friday evening. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 23, 1952)

Rites of Mrs. Rush Johnson Are Saturday
Funeral services for Mrs. Rush Johnson who died Tuesday night at Holy Family hospital, have been set for Saturday afternoon. Services will be held at 1:30 o’clock at the Johnson home and at 2 at the Gruver Presbyterian church with the Rev. H. C. McMican in charge, assisted by the Rev. Thomas B. Melton. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, two sons, Robert of the armed forces and Ronald, nine months, one daughter, Virginia, at home; her mother, Mrs. Mary Fank of Dolliver, one brother and four sisters. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Fank of Doliver, who died in October, 1934. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 24, 1952)
