The first year of Mr. and Mrs. Hurst’s married life was spent on a farm near Everly but they returned to Estherville in 1932 and the past eight years this city has been their home.
For the past year Mrs. Hurst’s health has been poor. On May 26 she suffered a stroke from which she never recovered even though hope was held by her loved ones and friends. But when a second stroke occurred on the morning of June 6 all resigned themselves to the imminence of her passing from this life, which occurred on Friday [June 7, 1940] night at 11:30 as she was surrounded by loved ones and friends.
Those of her family who survive are her husband, Ray, three sons, Norval, Harold and Virgil Morgan, a daughter, Irma Jean Hurst, two sisters, Mrs. Ray Scott of Wallingford and Mrs. Mildred Jones of Seattle, Wash., and a brother, Theodore Batman of Seattle, Wash.
When a girl living in Hormick, Mrs. Hurst gave her life to Christ and united with the Methodist church. Upon moving to Estherville she became a member of the Christian church and remained a faithful and active member until she closed her eyes to the life of earth.
