Mrs. Gail Hoskins Dies at Iowa City Hospital Tuesday
Mrs. Ida Hoskins who was taken to Iowa City last week for an operation for appendicitis died last night. Too long a delay had been made in getting the patient to the hospital and the poison had gone into the blood and a brain infection resulting from the poisoning caused her death. An operation could not be performed.

Mrs. Hoskins leaves beside her husband, Gail Hoskins, four small children, Lloyd, aged seven, Junior, Six, Merle, Five and Lynn, two. An infant child died recently of pneumonia. She was but 25 years of age.

The body will be brought back to Estherville for burial. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, May 15, 1929)

Young Mother is Buried Here
Mrs. G. A. Hoskins, 25, mother of four small children, was buried Friday afternoon in Oak Hill cemetery, beside her babe who died in April. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Friday afternoon in charge of the Rev. R. T. Chipperfield.

Several months ago Mrs. Hoskins suffered an attack of the influenza which depleted her strength. Other complications followed which left her an invalid for many weeks. About three weeks ago she was taken to the University of Iowa hospital at Iowa City, but it soon developed that there was little hope and she died Tuesday evening, May 14.

Was Youngest of 8
Ida Christine Remington was born at Clear Lake, S. Dak., June 8, 1904. She was the youngest of a family of eight children born to Trifley and Amy Remington. She spent her youth and obtained her education in that locality. On Nov. 10, 1920, she was married to Gale Arlington Hoskins.

They settled at Clear Lake and continued to reside there for five years, after which they lived at Sioux Falls for a year and in 1926 moved to Estherville, Ia., which has since been their home. Their family consisted of five sons, the youngest of whom died in April at the age of four months. The others are Lloyd Arlington, Gale, Jr., Meryle Dean and Lynn Eugene.

Joined Church in Youth
Mrs. Hoskins united with the Methodist church at Clear Lake, S.D., in her youth, where her membership still remains. She has been a good and faithful mother in her home, and a constant helpmate to her husband.

In addition to her sorrowing husband and four children, she is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Trifley Remington, three brothers, James of Clear Lake, Norten and Norman Remington of Yola, Minn., and two sisters, Mrs. Sam Sedgwick of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Mrs. W. L. Moore of Red Top, Minn.

Mr. Hoskins’ father, E. S. Hoskins, who is a former resident of Estherville, and his sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Lillibridge, all of Merietta, Minn.,were present at the funeral. (Estherville News, Estherville, IA, May 23, 1929)
