Passed to Her Reward in Oxford, Pennsylvania, November 16
Mrs. J. W. Hipple, a former resident of this city, died at her home in Oxford, Pennsylvania, the 16th of November. The body was brought to Estherville, reaching here Saturday morning. Funeral was held from the M.E. church Sunday afternoon and interment made in Oak Hill cemetery.Mary Lucinda [Gleason] Hipple was born in Louisville, Crawford County, Pa., on August 3rd, 1865. She went west with her parents when she was ten years old. She was married to J. W. Hipple in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, on March 16th, 1884. To this union seven children were born, five sons and two daughters. H. G. and J. L. Hipple both of Estherville, W. H. of Des Moines, E. H. of Redfield, South Dakota, Pearl and Floyd Hipple of Oxford, Pa. She united with the Methodist church about 27 years ago and was a devoted Christian wife and mother, always interested in the welfare of others. Her last hours were her happiest for she got a glimpse of the future. She saw her Savior. He told her that all was ready. She said it was the most beautiful place she ever saw. She sang the last night the songs of redeeming love and died strong in the faith. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, November 22, 1916)
