August Haisman

Armstrong-Services for J. August Haisman, 75, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, Armstrong, with Dr. Earl H. Estill officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery with military graveside services. He died Monday, Nov. 9, 1987 at Valley Vue Care Center, Armstrong.

Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born March 19, 1912 in Emmet County, the son of Joseph and Agatha (Geissinger) Haisman. He attended Armstrong School and was a 1931 graduate of Armstrong High School. On April 10, 1941 he was united in marriage with Alice J. Riggs at Estherville. He farmed his entire life in Emmet County and has lived the past 57 years on the present farm. He retired in 1974 and lived on the farm until Jan., 1986. He entered Valley Vue in February, 1987. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corp during World War Two and was a member of the Christiansen-Bonnicksen American Legion Post No. 382 in Ringsted.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Armstrong; North Star Masonic Lodge No. 447 of Estherville and Order of Eastern Star, Estherville.

Survivors include a son Joseph Jr., Bloomington, Minn., daughter, Mrs. Richard (Janice)Swartz, Mapleton, Minn.; two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Feb 18, 1980; parents; brother and sister.
