Mrs. Dolly Neff passed away at the home of her brother, E. C. Smith, on Saturday following a stroke of apoplexy. Dolly Ann Smith was born at Ellisburg, New York, 1848 and died on March 30, 1935 at Armstrong at the age of 86 years, 9 months and 28 days. At an early age she moved to Illinois with her parents and eventually moved to Iowa and settled near Vinton.On July 22, 1869, she was united in marriage to Edwin O. Hibbard of Vinton. They spent their life farming in this state until the death of Mr. Hibbard while living at Estherville. In March, 1902, she was married to John C. Neff of Estherville. They spent most of their life in Montana and Oregon. Mr. Neff died in 1929 while living at McMinnville, Oregon. Since then she has spent the rest of her life with her brother, Ed C. Smith of Armstrong.
She is survived by one adopted son, George Waughtal of Joplin, Mo., one brother, Ed C. Smith, one niece, Miss Cora Smith and two nephews, Louis and Everett Smith and one great niece Miss Irene Smith all of Armstrong. (Algona Upper Des Moines, Algona, IA, April 11, 1935)
