Estherville-Funeral services for Hans Hansen,86, of Estherville will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept 4, 2008, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong with Pastor Peter Soli officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Interment will be held at East Side Cemetery in Estherville with military graveside rites by the VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91 of Estherville.

He died Monday, Sept 1, 2008, at Fairmont Medical Center in Fairmont, Minn.

Hans Hansen, the son of Otto Peter and Ingird "Marie" (Evardsen) Hansen was born Oct 29, 1921, in Taars, Denmark.

He was baptized at the Taars Lutheran Church. He came to America in 1923 with his parents; three brothers, Erling, Einar and Asgar; one sister, Gudrun. He was confirmed in the Armstrong Nazareth Lutheran Church and received his education in the Armstrong country schools. Hans served in the United States Army during World War II where he served as a tank commander in the European Theatre. Following his honorable discharge from military service Hans returned to this area.

On Nov. 8, 1942, Hans was united in marriage to Evelyn Eimers in Fenton. He lived and farmed in Emmet county his entire life. Hans was also co-owner of L & H Grain Company in Dolliver and Maple Hill and Welcome, Sherburn, Northrup and Trimont, Minn. Evelyn passed away July 29, 1991.

On August 15, 1998, Hans was united in marriage to Judy Weisbrod Grabinoski in Armstrong. In his leisure time Hans enjoyed traveling, hunting and fishing in the United States, Canada, Argentina and Czechoslovokia.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Judy, of rural Estherville; two sons, Steven Hansen and his wife, Holly, of rural Estherville and Leon Hansen and his wife, Janet, of rural Dolliver;step-children, Jay and Kristin Grabinoski and Joel and Dawn Grabinoski;seven grandchildren, Angie, Amy, Caleb, Aaron, Kara, Ellissa and Chad; four step-grandchildren, Grant, Dayna, Morgan and Taylor; and four great-grandchildren, Hope, Avery, Evan and Aubree.

Preceding him in death were his first wife, Evelyn; grandson, Troy; three brothers; and one sister.
