Haynes: Charles H. Haynes died at his home in Denmark township, of typhoid fever, Saturday morning, September 12, 1896, after an illness of about three weeks. Deceased was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. C. I. Haynes of this city and was born in Grundy county, Illinois, June 26, 1867. He has been a resident of that place all his life until this spring when he moved to Emmet county and settled in Denmark township. In his old home he was widely and favorably known and was a favorite among his neighbors.

He was married August 24, 1887, to Miss Nettie M. Turner, who, with four children survives him and who is also seriously sick with typhoid fever.

The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in this city Sunday, Sept. 13, under the direction of the local lodge I.O.O.F., of which order he was a member in good standing in his native state. Rev. W. M. Evans conducted the services. The remains were interred in Oak Hill cemetery. (Semi-weekly Northern Vindicator, Estherville, IA, September 15, 1896)

Died – At his home in Denmark township, Charles Herbert Haynes, died Friday, Sept. 11, 1896. The funeral services were held in this city, Sunday at 2 o’clock p.m. at the Presbyterian church and were conducted by Rev. Evans and his remains were interred in the west side cemetery. Deceased was born in Morris, Ill., June 26, 1867 and was 29 years, 2 months and 15 days old at his death. He moved here from Illinois last spring and since that time resided on his farm in Denmark Twp. Those that were acquainted with him, speak of him in the highest terms and his early death has occasioned sorrow and regret throughout the neighborhood in which he lived. He leaves a wife and four children to grieve over his final departure. His parents and family have the heart felt sympathy of this community. It is all there is to offer. Died: At his home in Denmark township, Friday morning, Sept. 12th, of typhoid fever, Chas. H. Haynes, aged 29 years. He was buried in the West Side cemetery in this city Sunday, the I.O.O.F. performing the obsequies, services being held at the Presbyterian church. Deceased came to this county from Illinois and settled on his farm in Denmark township, this county, last March. He leaves a wife and four children to mourn his untimely death. H. A. Haynes, who is attending school at Valparaiso, Ind., arrived Sunday morning to attend the funeral of his brother. He will remain here an indefinite length of time. (Emmet County Republican, Estherville, IA, September 17, 1896)
