Reuben Green, Ex-Member of Council, Dies
Reuben Harrison Green, 82, former city councilman, died at 8:45 p.m. Saturday [August 4, 1951] of a heart attack at Holy family hospital. He was a resident here for 32 years. He became ill about a week ago with influenza and died shortly after he was taken to the hospital.

Mr. Green was born April 2, 1869, in Tama county, Iowa, and attended the Boyden grade school. He married Jennie Wilson in 1895 in Boyden.

Born in Tama county, he moved to Boyden at the age of 13 and lived on a farm there until he retired in 1919 and moved to Estherville.

He was city councilman from March 1931, until April, 1935.

He is survived by three brothers and one sister, James of Hopkins, Minn., Nelson of Estherville; Sandy C. of Sheldon and Elizabeth of Denver, Colo. He was preceded in death by his wife on Sept. 23, 1938. They had no children.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the First Methodist church, Rev. John DeLong officiating. Burial will be in the Oakhill cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 6, 1951)
