Herman William Golla
Herman William Golla did Monday [September 29, 1947] noon in a hospital at Rochester, Minn., where he had been confined for the past two and one-half weeks. Death was attributed to heart disease. Mr. Golla had been in ill health for years.

Herman Golla was born Nov. 22, 1900, in Estherville and received his education in the Estherville schools. On Nov. 24, 1928, he was united in marriage to Mildred Sheppard at Danville, Ill. He was employed by the Chicago and Eastern Illinois railroad at Danville and later sold life insurance.

Mr. Golla was a member of the Church of Christ in Estherville and also belonged to the Elks and Knights of Pythias lodges.

He is survived by his widow, a son, Robert, and his mother, Mrs. Pauline Golla, all of Estherville. Other survivors include his twin brother, Harry and Clarence of Estherville, John of Arnolds Park, Irwin of Spencer; sisters, Mrs. Florence Hogan of Milford, Mrs. J. M. Fredericksen of Estherville; Miss Esther Golla of Minneapolis and Mrs. Lee Erickson of Minneapolis.

Funeral arrangements will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 at the Herman Golla residence and at 2 p.m. at the Church of Christ. Rev. Fred Sawyer of Bloomfield and Rev. Gordon Hagberg of Estherville will officiate. Burial will be in Oakhill cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 1, 1947)

Herman Golla, 46, Dies At Hospital in Rochester
Word came Monday from the hospital at Rochester, Minn. of the death of Herman W. Golla, well known inn keeper of this city.

Herman had been in failing health for sometime back. His doctors had advised him to “take it easy.” This he did not do. He remodeled a building this summer and opened a business again.

His condition has been considered rather serious for sometime back. And for the past few days it was known to be extremely serious.

Mr. Golla was reared in this city, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Golla, long time residents. He was educated in the schools here. He was 46 years of age at the time of his death. He is survived by his widow and one son, Robert.

The funeral services will be on Friday afternoon from the house on First Avenue South and from the Christian Church at 2:00 o’clock. The Rev. Fred Sawyer of Bloomfield will officiate. Interment will be in Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, October 2, 1947)
