Mrs. Iva E. Gillialand
Cedar Falls – Funeral services for Mrs. Iva E. Gilliland, 90, have been set for Monday at the Reece-Henry Funeral Home in Estherville with burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery there.

Mrs. Gilliland died of a heart condition at 12:25 a.m. Thursday at the Cedar West Nursing Home, 519 Washington St., where she had been living since 1964. Nelson-Richardson Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Mrs. Gilliland was born in North Carolina on June 19, 1882, the daughter of Lafayette and Caroline Haynes Cartwright. She was married to Nevin W. Gilliland at Whitten on Nov. 30, 1910. He died in 1930.

Survivors include two sons, John R. of Anchorage, Alaska; and William H. of Modoc, S.C.; three daughters, Martha Gilliland of Hudson, Mrs. Caroline Otto of Bellevue, Neb., and Mrs. Wardaleene Fletcher of Estherville; one sister, Mrs. Mabel Frye of Maxwell, N.C.; two brothers, Olion Cartwright of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Richard Cartwright of Madison, N.C.; five grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded by one son and one grandson. (Waterloo Daily Courier, Waterloo, IA, June 15, 1972)

Mrs. Gillialand Dies at 90
Mrs. Iva Gillialand, long-time resident in the Estherville area, died at 12:30 a.m. today, June 15, 1972, at a Cedar Falls nursing home. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home in Estherville.

Mrs. Gilliland, who celebrated her 90th birthday Friday, had moved to Cedar Falls about 10 years ago. She had been a member of the Christian Church here.

Survivors include two sons, John of Kenai, Alaska, and William, of Modoc, S. Car.; three daughters, Mrs. Ward Fletcher of Estherville, Martha Gilliand of Hudson and Mrs. Kenneth (Caroline) Otto of Bellevue, Neb.; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nevin, and a son, Warren. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 15, 1972)

Mrs. Gilliland Rites Tuesday
Funeral services for Mrs. Iva Gilliland, 90, former Estherville resident who died yesterday morning at a Cedar Falls nursing home, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Reese-Henry Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakhill cemetery with the Rev. Robert Miller officiating. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 16, 1972)

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gilliland left today for their home in Modock, S.C., after attending the funeral of Gilliland’s mother, Mrs. Iva Gilliland. While here they stayed with the Ward Fletcher’s. Mrs. Fletcher is a daughter of Mrs. Iva Gilliland. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 22, 1972)

West, Tim and Terry, Janesville; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Diggins, Waterloo; Richard Cartwright, Madison, N.C.; and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Gilliland, Fairmont, Minn.
