Young Man Passes After Long Illness
Funeral services were held Sunday for Vern Borgen Flindt, 32, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Flindt who passed away last Wednesday [September 13, 1933] at Cherokee after a long illness of pulmonary tuberculosis. He had been bedfast since December. Burial was made at Oak Hill cemetery following short services at two o’clock at the Mahlum and Anderson funeral chapel in charge of Rev. Frank Yearnd.Pall bearers were Clarence Kurtz, J. M.Amdahl, Gilbert Amdahl, Will Dickerson, Joe Hurst and Ross Fouts.
Mr. Flindt was the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Flindt and was born in Estherville on Aug. 19, 1901. He had lived most of his life here. At the age of 14 he was baptized and became a member of the Union Baptist church.
Besides his parents he leaves to mourn his passing, two sisters, Mrs. Esther Harris of Eldora and Mrs. Mabel Irland of New York. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, September 19, 1933)
