Charles Ditch Dies Suddenly of Heart Attack
Charles W. Ditch, 80, longtime farmer in the Estherville vicinity, died yesterday afternoon at 4:30 at the Ditch farm 10 miles southwest of Estherville. He had never been sick and apparently suffered a heart attack while at the farm.

He had gone to the farm from his home in Estherville to get a grand nephew, Larry Finger, to help him. On arrival at the farm, he felt ill and after visiting with his niece, Mrs. Wayne Finger, lay down for a while. He called his niece to his side, but died almost immediately afterwards.

He was born Sept. 16, 1870, in Whiteside county, Ill., and came with his parents to Cedar Rapids at the age of two years. He received his education in the Cedar Rapids public schools.

Nov. 29, 1900, he was married to Arosena [Arosema] Hewitt of the Twelve-Mile Lake community and he remained active in farming until his death. He was a member of the Christian church.

Survivors include his wife, one brother, Frank, of Fredericksburg, two nephews and a niece. He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

Services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in Estherville Christian church with the Rev Clyde Leeds officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. The body will lie in state at Sternborg funeral chapel until 2:30 Sunday, and from that hour until time of services at the Christian church.
