Sudden Death
Mrs. Frank Davis of This City Dies Suddenly Saturday [August 18, 1906] Evening
The people of Estherville were shocked Saturday evening by the sudden death of Mrs. Frank Davis of north Fifth street. Only the day before she had been in her usual health and attended the play at the opera house on Thursday evening. She was taken sick on Saturday morning and a physician was called, but her condition was not thought serious. The doctor left some medicine for her and she was apparently resting easily. Later in the day the physician called again, and found her in a state of collapse. Another physician was called in consultation, but there was not hope for her recovery. The cause of her death was from an internal hemorrhage.

Mrs. Hannah Davis was born in Northerland, Norway, April 20th, 1879 and was 27 years, 3 months and 29 days of age at the time of her death. She leaves a husband, father, three sisters and one brother to mourn her loss. She was a member of the Norwegian Lutheran church of this city, having been confirmed in that faith in Pocahontas Center. The funeral occurred from the Norwegian Lutheran church, Tuesday afternoon at three o’clock and the remains were buried in Oak Hill cemetery. Funeral held Tuesday Afternoon From Lutheran Church – Interment in Oak Hill Cemetery
At her home in Estherville on Saturday evening occurred the death of Mrs. Frank Davis, after a very short illness. For a few days prior to her death she had not been feeling well but nothing serious seemed to be the matter. On Thursday evening she was down town, while on her way home she was taken sick, the doctor was called and all that could be was done for her, but her condition continued to grow worse culminating in her death as stated.

Hanna Vestrum was born in Northland, Norway, April 20, 1879, had been a resident of this country for many years. She was a member of the Lutheran church, being confirmed in that faith in Pocahontas, Iowa. In 1902 she was united in marriage with Frank Davis and have made their home in Estherville and vicinity since.

Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Thompson officiating. Interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery.

The Democrat extends condolences to the bereaved husband, father, sisters and brother in the loss of a devoted wife, daughter and sister, whose death means an irreparable loss to them. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, August 22, 1906)
