A.H. Davidson Early Settler, Answers Call
Had Lived in Emmet County Nearly 60 Years – Funeral Monday
Albert H. Davidson, a resident of this county since a lad of 10 years passed away at his home at two-thirty Saturday [July 15, 1933] afternoon. Mr. Davidson had been ill with cancer for the past six months and his death came as a relief from great suffering.

Mr. Davidson was for years identified with the mercantile business in Estherville, going into the Sondrol store to clerk as a boy and continuing with that concern until it closed. He then purchased a stock of his own for his general mercantile store. For several years prior to his last illness he was an employee of the Rock Island at the local shops. Mr. Davidson was one of the world’s true gentlemen. Always kind and considerate of others and with never failing courtesy to those with whom he came in contact.

Born April 19, 1886, in Dane county, Wisconsin, he came to Emmet county with his parents, living first in High Lake township. Mr. Davidson is survived by his wife [Ella Mae Coon Fox Davidson], two stepchildren, Harold Fox of Waterloo and Mrs. Harry Brown of Mason City, one sister, Mrs. Martin Anderson of Estherville, a brother David H. Davidson of Carlsbad, Calif., a niece, Mrs. Hans Hogan of Emmetsburg and other relatives.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Methodist Episcopal church in charge of the pastor Rev. W. A. WinterStein. Dr. A. G. Bailey of the Presbyterian church delivered the funeral sermon. Interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery.

The pall bearers, old time friends and neighbors of the deceased man, were Roy Burt, Fred Himebauch, Theo. Myhre, Oscar Sillge, Jake Hepp and John Smith. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, July 18, 1933)

Funeral Services For Albert Davidson Were Held Monday
Mr. A. H. Davidson, a resident of this county for fifty-eight years, passed away at his home at two o’clock Saturday afternoon. For the past six months he has been suffering with cancer to which death was due.

Albert H. Davidson was born in Dane County, Wisconsin, on April 29, 1866. With his parents he came to Emmet County, Iowa, when a lad of ten. His home and all his interests have centered here throughout the years. His father’s family home was established in High Lake Township where Mr. Davidson grew to manhood.

While yet but a youth Mr. Davidson found employment in a business house in Estherville. After a number of years he purchased the business which he conducted with uniform success for many years.

Practically every long time resident of the county came to know Mr. Davidson. He was universally esteemed for his kindly courtesy, his unswerving integrity and his unfailing consideration for others. Always but especially in his tedious final illness his gratitude and patience were outstanding.

Mr. Davidson has been for many years a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ella Davidson, his step-children, Mr. Harold Fox of Waterloo, Iowa, and Mrs. Harry Brown of Mason City, Iowa; his sister, Mrs. Martin Anderson of Estherville and a brother, Mr. David H. Davidson of Carlsbad, California, and other relatives.

The funeral services were held from the Methodist Episcopal Church Monday at two o’clock with the pastor in charge. Dr. A. G. Bailey of the Presbyterian Church preached the funeral sermon. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, July 19, 1933)
