Mrs. Butcher Dies at 80
Mrs. Leona Mae Butcher, 80, died this morning at the Good Samaritan Home in Estherville. She had been in ill health for some time. Funeral services are pending at the Sternborg-Reese Funeral Home in Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 2, 1962)

Rites to Be Friday for Mrs. Butcher
Mrs. Clyde (Leona Mae) Butcher, 80, died yesterday morning at the Good Samaritan Home. She had been in poor health for some time. Death was due to complications of advanced age.

Mrs. Butcher, the former Leona Mae Simpson, was born Feb. 12, 1882 in Claremont, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Butcher were married Dec. 25, 1900, and they moved to Estherville in 1906. They moved to South Dakota in 1919 but moved back to Estherville in 1933.

Mrs. Butcher was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star and former member of Spanish American War Veterans Auxiliary.

Mrs. Butcher is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Fred (Frances) Mandery, Milwaukee, Wis.; Mrs. B. F. (Geraldine) Albitz, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Harry (Grace) Sievers, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Dwight (Marcella) Wiseman, Ringsted; Mrs. William (Norine Henderman, Estherville; Mrs. Harold (Shirley) Morton, Vista, Calif.; 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

She is also survived by three brothers including Harry Simpson of Estherville, and four sisters. Mrs. Butcher was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Sternborg-Reese Funeral Home with the Rev. James K. Lyon officiating. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home until the time of the service on Friday. Casket will not be opened after the service.
