Prominent Farmer of Dolliver Vicinity Dies on Saturday
The Dolliver community was saddened to hear of the death of Roscoe Athey Saturday afternoon.

Mr. Athey had not been in the best of health for some time but was not confined to his home until a few days before his death. After a severe attack of the flu, influenza pneumonia set in causing his death.

The Atheys have resided on a farm west of Dolliver for a number of years.

Obituary of Roscoe Athey
Roscoe R. Athey was born at Jefferson, Iowa, Dec. 25, 1894 and died at Dolliver, Iowa, Jan. 29, 1938. He was united in marriage to Ethel Scharferberg at Estherville, Ia., July 12, 1926 and to this union were born 5 children, one dying in infancy. There are living 4 boys, Forrest, Raymond, Robert and one girl, Lois Jean.

In his youth Mr. Athey united with the Christian church at Jefferson, Ia., and remained a member of that church until his death. He leaves to mourn, besides his family, his mother, living at Fairmont, two sisters, Mrs. Olive Johnson and Mrs. Bon—Johnson of Fairmont, five brothers, Clyde and Paul Athey of Brookpark, Minn., Alvo Athey of Hinkley, Minn., Dale Athey of Sioux City, Iowa and Walter Athey of Dolliver besides a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the home at 1:30 p.m. on Monday and at the Dolliver Community church at 2 p.m. The Rev. C. L. Day of Dolliver conducted the services and interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, February 3, 1938)
