Final Rites Tuesday for Will A. Wood
Will A. Wood, 74, farmer northwest of Estherville, died at 8:40 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Hospital. Mr. Wood had been in poor health for the past four years.

Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Sternborg Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Thomas G. Melton officiating. Friends may call until time of services.

The son of Andrew Jackson and Jennie Newton Wood, Mr. Wood was born March 10, 1883, in Pocahontas County. He attended the schools in that area.

In 1905 Mr. Wood homesteaded in Staney, N.D., returning to Iowa in 1912. He was in the real estate business for a short time in Ayrshire and purchased his farm in Emmet county in 1925. He has lived here since that time.

Mr. Wood was married to the former June Weir, Sept. 3, 1938, at Jackson, Minn. They are the parents of two children, Albert, 17, and Judith, 11.

Survivors in addition to his widow and children are three brothers, Sam of Estherville, Oran of Spencer and James of Waterloo; a sister, Mary Alice of Boise, Idaho. His parents and two brothers, Charles and Norman, preceded him in death.

Pallbearers for the service tomorrow will be Walter Feger, Merle Billings, James Eckard, Simon Frey, Jim Braband and George Laurtisen. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 29, 1957)
