Mrs. William A. Reich, 53, passed away Monday [July 12, 1943] evening about 11 o’clock at her home in Estherville.
Inez Mae Price was born October 16, 1890 in Guthrie County, Iowa to George and Maude Price. She moved with her family to Dickinson county in 1908.
She was married to Charles Smith in 1910. Mr. Smith passed away in 1915. Mrs. Smith and parents moved to Estherville and she was employed for a time as bookkeeper at the Vindicator and Republican.
On September 12, 1917, she was married to William A. Reich in Estherville and had lived here since.
For eighteen years she was chief operator at the local Northwestern Bell Telephone company. She was an operator on the switchboard before she became chief operator.
Mrs. Reich was a member of the Royal Neighbor lodge, the Rebekah lodge and the Service Star Legion. She was also a member of the Methodist church.
Mrs. Reich was gone from her duties as chief operator for three weeks, being in a Sioux City hospital for a week. She had returned to Estherville on Friday.
Surviving are her husband and a daughter, Leona, who is a telephone operator in Minneapolis. Two sons preceded her in death in infancy.
Mrs. Reich will not only be missed by her family, but also by the many friends she made through her associations with the public.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:15 at the home and at 1:45 at the Methodist church with the Rev. F. W. Ortmeyer officiating. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, July 15, 1943)
