Mrs. M. K. Whelan Passes Yesterday
Funeral Services Will Be Held at Home Friday Afternoon
Mrs. M. K. Whelan well known and dearly beloved Estherville resident passed away yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock at her home after an illness of several months caused from anemia and other complications. Mrs. Whelan had been able to be up and around the house until a few months ago.

Funeral rites will be held at 2:30 tomorrow afternoon at the home with David Wade, of Fairmont, Christian Science reader, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Whelan was born in Ontario, Can., 64 years ago. She was a widow, Mrs. Jennie Barr, when she met Mr. Whelan and they were married in Sept. 16, 1922, in Los Angeles, Calif. At one time Mrs. Whelan held a responsible business position in Detroit, Mich.

She has always been a active worker in the White Shrine and Easter Star lodges and in the local Christian Science church.

Mrs. Whelan is survived by her husband, one brother, George Combs, of Los Angeles, Calif., and a niece, Miss Edna Combs, who has been living here for the past year. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, August 27, 1936)
