Mrs. Elizabeth Quackenbush died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F. L. McCoy, at 11 o’clock last night. Death resulted from the effects of a surgical operation. The operation was for the removal of a large tumor from the stomach and was performed by Drs. Anderson, Birney, Adams, and Wilson, Thursday of last week. Owing to her extreme age she had not the vitality to overcome the effects, thought the operation was successfully done and she would otherwise have recovered rapidly. Deceased was seventy-one years of age and has been a resident of this locality for many years. She was the mother of D. B. Sanborn and Mrs. F. L. McCoy. The funeral services will be held at the M.E. church tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. (The Weekly Northern Vindicator, Estherville, IA, April 20, 1899)
