Mrs. Flora Cooper’s Services Held Friday
Funeral services were held last Friday at the Church of Christ in Estherville for Mrs. Flora Cooper, 83, who died at Holy Family hospital Wednesday morning after an illness of a week.Mrs. Cooper had been a resident of Estherville since 1917. Born Feb. 22,[1864] at Iowa Center, she spent her childhood at Nevada, where she married George Walbridge.
Mrs. Cooper was a member of the Church of Christ, the Service Star Legion and the Royal Neighbors lodge.
Immediate survivors are a daughter, Mrs. John Winter, of Jackson, Minn., a son, Harry Cooper of La Crosse, Wis., and her son-in-law, Thomas Triggs, with whom she made her home. Her daughter, Mrs. Triggs and a son, Wm. Walbridge, preceded her in death.
Other survivors are: two half-sisters, Mrs. Bessie Boyter of Omaha, Nebr., and Mrs. Nettie Cage of San Diego, Calif., nineteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Mrs. August Bendixen is one of the grandchildren. (Terril Record, Terril, IA, June 19, 1947)
Former Resident of Superior Passed Away at Estherville
Mrs. Flora Cooper, 83, a resident of Superior and community about 25 years ago, passed away at the Holy Family hospital at 3 o’clock on June 17, after a week’s illness with pleurisy and pneumonia. She has been a resident since 1917. Mrs. Cooper was born at Iowa Center on Feb. 22, 1864, and spent her childhood at Nevada. Her first marriage was to George Walbridge. They were the parents of six children, two of whom died in infancy. During this time the family made its home at Spirit Lake. On June 27, 1901, she was married to Eugene Cooper, who died in November of 1932. She was a member of the Church of Christ, the Service Star Legion and the Royal Neighbor lodge.Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. John Winter of Jackson; a son, Harry Cooper of LaCrosse, Wis., and her son-in-law, Tom Triggs, with whom she made her home here. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Hazel, Mrs. Triggs, and a son, Will Walbridge of Terril.
Also surviving are two half sisters, Mrs. Bessie Boytn of Omaha and Mrs. Nettie Cage of San Diego, 19 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday at 1 p.m. at the home and at 1:30 in the Church of Christ, Rev. Gordon Hagberg officiating. Burial was made in the Oakhill cemetery.
Among the relatives from away attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cooper and family of LaCrosse, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. John Winter, Edith and Lyle, of Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bougby, son and daughter of Laurens, Mr. and Mrs. August Bendixen of Terril, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Reed and Mary of Orleans, Mrs. Jim Reed, Stanley and Betty of Lester, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Winter, Leslie Winter, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Winter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Winter, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Muir all of Jackson and Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Bari of Superior, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Walbridge of Terril.
