Gretchen Smith Rites Wednesday
Gretchen Louis Smith, 62, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 1972, in New York City.

Services will be held at Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville, tentatively scheduled Wednesday morning. Interment will be made in Oak Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Richard Pearson will officiate.

Miss Smith was born Dec. 7, 1909, in Estherville to Mr. and Mrs. John G. Smith. She graduated from Estherville High School in 1927, form Estherville Junior College in 1929 and from Mankato College in 1931.

She was employed as a bookkeeper for Oransky’s Department Store here. In 1935 she went to New York where she was editor for a publishing company. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Margaret.

Friends may call at Fuhrman Funeral Home Tuesday evening until time of service Wednesday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 21, 1972)
