Lisle Stine, Ex-Resident of City, Dies
Word was received here yesterday of the death of Lisle T. (Brick) Stine, formerly of Estherville. He died last Friday at the age of 56 after a long period of semi-invalidism at Mercy hospital in Oelwein.

Mr. Stine was born Aug. 31, 3895, the son of Philip and Carrie Kirkpatrick Stine, at Estherville. He was educated in the public schools here and graduated from the Estherville high school. While still a young man he was baptized and became a member of the Christian church here.

He entered the armed services early in 1918 and received an honorable discharge late in 1919 at Camp Dodge. After his discharge he returned to Estherville and was employed by a wholesale grocery firm for a number of years when his health began to fail.

In 1929 he moved to Newton and with his mother, Mrs. Carrie Lyman, operated a coffee shop at the Churchill hotel. In 1949 he and his mother moved to Oelwein. Since the death of his mother last July, he has been cared for by his aunt, Mrs. Cora Baker.

He is preceded in death by his father, mother and sister, Carol [Coral].

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. R. LaVerne Ervin of the First Church of Christ at the Brant funeral home in Oelwein and burial was in Woodlawn cemetery beside his mother and sister. Military honors were conferred at the cemetery by Oelwein veteran’s organizations. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 2, 1952)
