Emma Dorothea Stromer
Last Monday morning Emma Stromer of this city, who has been very ill for some time, passed away at the home of her mother, Mrs. T. S. Stromer. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at the home at 1:30 p.m. and at the Norwegian Lutheran church, of which she was a member, at 2 p.m. The services will be in charge of her pastor, Rev. S. A. Berge. Interment will be made at the Oak Hill cemetery.

Emma Dorothea Stromer was born at De Forest, Wis., March 25, 1882. Here she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and here she graduated from High School in 1900. About sixteen years ago she came to this city. She taught school for a short time, but she has mainly been engaged in the work of typesetting and linotype operating at the local print shops. She was employed for a time at The Estherville Enterprise and until she was forced to quit work on account of her illness she was with the Estherville Democrat. She had been in poor health for many years. During the past winter, however, her illness became increasingly serious so that she was finally forced to take to her bed on Palm Sunday. For a time she was treated at the Hospital but when no hope could be entertained for her recovery she was taken home again and here she died May 17th. She suffered a great deal but bore her sufferings patiently. Her last moments were cheered and quieted by the finding of peace with God and her dying prayer was that Jesus would save her soul.

She leaves to mourn her loss, an aged mother, four sisters, Hannah, Mesdames W. A. Norby, Julia Durkee, and S. E. Westrem; also three brothers, Edward, Theodore and Andrew. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, May 19, 1920)
