Killed in Korea
Estherville – Mr. and Mr. George Smith of Estherville have been notified that their son, Keemon [Keenon] Smith, 20, was killed in Korea July 9, just a month after his arrival there. Smith joined the Navy two years ago, transferred to the Marine Corps, became a medic and was sent to Korea at his own request. (Council Bluffs Nonpareil, Council Bluffs, IA, July 16, 1953)
