Raymond Eugene Shultz, 54, Estherville, died at 1:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 1972, at Holy Family Hospital.Services were held this afternoon at 2 p.m. at Reese-Henry Chapel in Estherville with the Rev. Richard Pearson officiating. Interment was made in Oak Hill Cemetery with military graveside rites.
Mr. Shultz was born Oct. 4, 1917, on a farm north of Estherville to Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Shultz. He was educated in rural Emmet County and Estherville schools. He had been employed by the Star Lumber Co. of Estherville for a number of years until ill health forced his retirement.
He was a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge, V.F.W., American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He had served in the armed forces during World War II.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Shultz of Estherville, and two sisters, Mrs. Joe (Marjorie) Goering, Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs. Leonard (Harriet) Knode, Pomona, Calif. Preceding him in death were one brother and one sister.
Pallbearers were Robert Woods, Ben Seeger, Melvin Ellis, Obert Rockne, Francis Sheda and Donald Bonnicksen. Reese-Henry Funeral Home was in charge. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 5, 1972)
