Fred Sharar, 84, Dies
Fred Homer Sharar, 84, a farmer in the Huntington Dunnell area for nearly 60 years, died early today at a Minneapolis state hospital of the infirmities of old age.Mr. Sharar was born Sept. 12, 1874 in O’Brien County, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sharar. On Sept. 3, 1900 he was married to Ethel Pearl Bombarger at Estherville.
They spent their entire married life on farms in the Huntington Dunnell areas, living north of Emmet County just south of the state line in Minnesota. Mr. Sharar continued farming until [ ] years ago when he retired. During that time he did all of his own farm work and [unreadable].
Mr. Sharar was a charter member of the Huntington Methodist Church and he, his brothers and parents helped to construct the building.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, two sons, 12 grandchildren and [ ] great grandchildren. Other survivors include two brothers and a sister.
The sons are Fred of Dunnell and Glea of Dolliver. The daughters are Mrs. Wiley (Martha) Van Eman of Estherville and Mrs. Herman (Myrtle) Renhardt of Dolliver. The brothers are J. I. Sharar of Santa Ana, Calif., and Raymond of Los Angeles. The sister is Mrs. Amy Bombarger of Estherville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sons.
Funeral services will be held at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday at Sternborg Funeral Home here and at 7 p.m. in the Huntington Methodist Church, the Rev. Cloyd Bishop officiating. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 11, 1958)
