Mrs. Emma Shadle Services Thursday
Estherville – Funeral services for Emma Violet Shadle, 87, Estherville, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Estherville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Harvey Throop officiating and burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery. She passed away Tuesday [December 3, 1974] at Holy Family Hospital.

Mrs. Shadle was born May 5, 1887 in Humboldt to Thorval L. and Jennie Rundgren Thorson and received her education in the Armstrong schools.

She was married to George W. Shadle in August, 1906, in Des Moines and came to Estherville with her husband who operated a ready-to-wear store until 1930. They moved to Pleasantville for one year and then moved back to Estherville where Mr. Shadle was employed as City Clerk until his death in 1943. Mrs. Shadle was a member of the Presbyterian Church and P.E.O.

She is survived by one son, Francis Shadle, Estherville; one daughter, Mrs. Virginia Phelps, Spirit Lake; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, John Thorson, Armstrong.

Mrs. Shadle was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
