Mrs. George Vestrem, 76, Dies
Mrs. George (Grace) Vestrem, 76, died today at 7:45 a.m. at Holy Family Hospital, where she had been admitted Sunday. Mrs. Vestrem had been ill for about six months. Her death was attributed to cancer.Grace May Johnson was born Jan. 5, 1891, at Amboy, Ill., the daughter of Carl and Ada Johnson, and received her education there.
She was married June 23, 1915, to George L. Vestrem at Sibley. Mr. Vestrem was employed by the Rock Island Railroad and he and Mr. Vestrem moved from Sibley to Estherville in 1933.
Mrs. Vestrem was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a past worthy matron of the North Star chapter of Order of Eastern Star, a past worthy high priestess of White Shrine, and a past worthy president of the Social Order of Beauceant.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Allen H. (Meriel) Schooley of Springfield, Va.; two sons, Charles W. of Wesley, and W. Dean of Spencer; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Harry (Anna) Robinson and Mrs. A. B. (Ruth) Kniss, both of Park Rapids, Minn., and three brothers, Fred and Raymond Johnson, both of Minneapolis; and Dwight Johnson of Orlando, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one brother, Frank.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Fuhrman Funeral Home, Rev. H. Allen Wirtz officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Graveside Eastern Star burial services will be conducted.
