Death at 88 for Fred W. Robinson
Fred W. Robinson, 88, former postmaster of Estherville, died this noon at the Good Samaritan Center, where he had been making his home. Death was caused by complications of old age.Frederick Arthur Robinson was born July 30, 1879, in Cerro Gordo County, the son of John M. and Martha Rowan Robinson. He came to Estherville with his parents in 1866 and worked on farms and at other positions before 1900. he received his education here.
Mr. Robinson was married June 3, 1903, to Cora Maloy Bury.
From 1900 to 1914 he served as a clerk in the Estherville post office, was assistant postmaster from 1914 to 1922, and served as postmaster from 1922 to 1934.
After retiring from the post office, Mr. Robinson served as city assessor in 1939-40 and in 1936 was a candidate for the legislature. He was a member of the Methodist board and a delegate to the Methodist general conference in 1932 at Atlantic City.
He is survived by a son, John, of Washington, D.C.; and three daughters, Mrs. David (Helen) Wisdom of Swarthmore, Pa.; Mrs. Robert (Martha) Seylar, and Mrs. George (Kathryn) Brunskill, of Estherville.
