Obituary of Oliver Rierson
Oliver Rierson was born in Neenah, Wis., February 6, 1863. In 1866 the family moved to Emmet County, Iowa. There Mr. Rierson was confirmed by Rev. Holseth. In 1888, May 3rd, he was married to Anna Danielson. They resided on a farm 9 or 10 years and then moved to Thorsby, Alabama, where they lived from 1897 to 1902. In 1902 they came to Estherville, Iowa. In 1915 they moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa, which has since been their home. There they were members of St. Olaf Lutheran church, the church of the faith in which he was baptized, the faith in which he was confirmed, and the faith in which we trust he died. After a short and painful sickness he was released Wednesday, February 23, 1927, aged 64 years, and 17 days. He was preceded in death by a son, Hjalmer. He leaves to mourn his loss, his widow and seven children, David R., of Cedar Rapids, William R., of Boone, Clifford of Beaver Creek, Minn.; Mrs. Anna Naso of San Francisco, Calif.; Malvina, Phillip and Selmer of Ft. Dodge, also two grand children and three sisters; Mrs. Gus Gilbertson and Mrs. Thomas Halverson of Estherville, and Mrs. Lizzie Martinson of San Diego, Cal. Services were conducted at the undertaking parlors at Ft. Dodge Friday by the family’s pastor, Rev. S. A. Berge, and the body shipped to this city. The funeral was held Saturday at one o’clock at the Estherville Lutheran church and interment made at Oak Hill cemetery in the family plot, Rev. L. A. Mathre conducting the services.
