Words come to us of the death of Mrs. A. D. Rose at her home in Turlock, Cal. Mrs. Rose was a resident of Estherville for years. She was the wife of A. D. Rose who was formerly engaged in the dray and livery business in this city. The remains will be brought to this city for burial. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, September 23, 1914)

Mrs. Alfred Rose was born March 14th, 1850, in New York state and died at her home in Turlock, California, September 16th, 1914. The remains were accompanied by her husband and arrived in Estherville Wednesday morning of last week and were taken to the home of her stepson, N. J. Rose. Rev. J. Frederic Catlin, pastor of the Union Baptist church, conducted the funeral services from the home at two o’clock p.m. Wednesday and the body was laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Rose leaves a husband, Alfred Rose, two children and two step-children. The children are Mrs. Edith Gill and Earl Rose both of Turlock, California, and the step children are Birney and N. J. Rose both of Estherville. She also leaves two brothers who reside at Rockford, Iowa, a sister in Buffalo, New York, and a sister, Mrs. J. A. Montgomery, of Pomona, California.
