I.J. Robinson, 72, chairman of the Emmet county board of supervisors, died at 11 p.m. October 28, at the Coleman hospital where he had been a patient for the past ten days suffering from double pneumonia.Mr. Robinson had recovered from the pneumonia but could not recover his strength back. He was given a blood transfusion and was fed intravenously but did not rally.
Irwin James Robinson was born November 2, 1870, in Wright county, Iowa. He received his education in the schools at Clear Lake after which he attended a business college in Des Moines.
In 1898 he was united in marriage to Miss Florence Haynes who died six years ago.
The Robinson family moved to Estherville from Clear Lake in 1886 and lived on a farm near Ringsted. For a number of years they have lived on a farm north of Estherville.
Mr. Robinson was a member of the Methodist church. In 1918 he was elected county supervisor, serving until 1925 and returning to that capacity Jan. 1, 1942. Since January of this year he has been chairman of the board of supervisors. He represented the first district comprising Estherville and Emmet townships.
He is survived by two sons, Merrill, who lives in Superior, Wisconsin, and Ralph, who lives at home, one daughter, Mrs. Ernest Sampson, who resides in Santa Monica, California, two brothers, Fred of Estherville and Ira who lives in California, and one sister, Mrs. W.
