Edward S. Reese, 76, Dies Today
Edward Stanley Reese, 76, long time resident of this area and retired Rock Island railroad conductor, died around 10 a.m. today at Holy Family Hospital. He had been ill with a heart condition for the past several weeks.

Mr. Reese was born May 2, 1882, in Grundy County, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Reese. He moved with his parents at an early age to Pueblo, Colo., where the family lived until 1897 when they returned to Iowa and lived in the Terril and Estherville areas.

Mr. Reese, who retired in 1949, had been employed by the railroad for 43 years. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.

He was married on Aug. 8, 1949, to Pearl Schultz at Alden. His first wife, the former Edith Drushella, died in 1939.

Survivors include his wife, Pear; two daughters, Mrs. Frank (Lois) Smith of Riverdale, Md., and Velita Reese of San Francisco, Cal.; two grandchildren; and one brother, Paul, of Cleveland, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, A. H. Reese; one sister, and his first wife.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home, the Rev. James K. Lyon of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.

Friend may call at the Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home from tomorrow until time of services on Monday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 13, 1958)
